Dear Editor,

German thoroughness is known worldwide, I think. Please read my proposals to make Cathedral Grove really safe for the public:

1. Cut all the trees which grow nearer than 70 m to the highway or to a trail. They could drop on a car or on a person.
2. Remove all the roots people could stumble over and asphalt the trails.
3. Put a fence of at least 2 m height around the area so that no wild animal can enter to attack a visitor.
4. Remove all the wooden gangway planks. They are too slippery. Fix banisters to both sides of every trail.
5. Drain the Qualicum river. Somebody could drown.
6. Spray insecticides to kill all beetles, ants, bees and everything that could be able to sting a visitor.
7. Remove dangerous plants, for example devils club and stinging nettles, and all plants that could be poisonous or could cause allergic reactions to the visitors.
8. Make sure that there are bodyguards you can rent.
9. Install street lamps, fire extinguishers, emergency telephones, first aid boxes and of course also lightning conductors. Don´t forget camcorders to survey everything.
10. Roof the whole Cathedral Grove Park so that nobody will get wet if it starts to rain unannounced.

I think that life is extremely dangerous.

Certainly this was meant ironically. As a German I really enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere in British Columbia and I would like to keep it as it is. Please think about it!

Yours sincerely,
Angelika Hanko
