Re: Cathedral Grove

We understand that there have been meetings between your government and Weyerhaeuser for the purpose of expanding MacMillan Park by acquiring the remainder of Cathedral Grove (an additional 400 hectares.) Community support for the expansion of MacMillan Park to include all of Cathedral Grove continues to remain a major issue for Vancouver Island, British Columbia and the International Community. Please refer to summer edition of Beautiful BC magazine.

I have enclosed a copy of the announcement made by MLA Gillian Trumper in Ucluelet on August 2, 2002, announcing “an agreement between Weyerhaeuser and the Provincial Government had been reached which will allow Weyerhaeuser to remove 400 hectares of ocean front property ( in and around Ucluelet ) to be removed from TFL lands and sold off.”

We would like to know how the Weyerhaeuser agreement in Ucluelet, has advanced the acquisition of the 400 hectares of Cathedral Grove.
